Grid modernization is the latest trend within electric utilities. Across the industry, the focus of this collective effort is on improving grid reliability, resiliency and security.
Ironically, these same goals have been pursued through the past decade. And this should be encouraging to all stakeholders.” The biggest shift for this emerging trend is the connectedness of all the pieces and parts. Historically, the different components (devices, applications, etc.) were disassociated, as were their respective benefits and potential. Now, with grid modernization, every aspect of the grid is being viewed with a fresh interdependence, a synergy of impact.
