Irregularities in electricity and broader energy systems are becoming the norm . Already 70 million people in the US have smart meters, a quarter of Australians have rooftop solar, and electric vehicles on the road doubled globally last year. These all signal participation by consumers, and this is the new norm. What consumers want is changing, but not uniformly — they want greater choice.
